A regular day in Valhalla //ENG

"Well, then let's hope you find one yourself and aren't promised away to a brat like the king's son." he said, knowing that no one here would report him for saying bad things about the royal family - no one really dared to turn against a knight, especially if they were poor, because who were they going to believe, a poor man or a noble knight? the answer was quite obvious.

"I sure hope to avoid that, too." a weak smile.

A soft smile. "The only thing worse would be marrying the king." a soft laughter. "Watch your mouth Finn. Someone might hear you and your stupid mouth." Sally said and gave the back of his head a soft slap before she put two plates down in front of them. "Here you go. Two pieces of beef pie."

She chuckled a little, then smiled and gave Sally a nod of gratitude. "Thanks."

Sally just smiled at Eira. "You're welcome, I hope you enjoy it, and don't listen to my foolish baby brother, he can be the biggest idiot that have ever existed." she said and then left. Finn just shook his head with a small laughter.

"... She's your big sister?" Eira asked, chuckling a little.

"Well, in a weird way, yes. She is my big sister." he laughed and scratched the back of his neck. "Long story short then my father got a woman pregnant when he was young, and that woman is Sally's mother, but when Sally was around eight I think, then her mother got awfully sick, and unfortunately died. About two years later her father, met my mother and soon they got married and then I was born, so technically my father is her father, but we do not have the same mother. Also our father was a peasant of highest rank, and her mother of lowest rank, which is why she has five rhinestones. My mother is the highest noble rank, so I have seven because of her." a shrug and he started eating.

"Well, you would've had seven either way, being a knight of your rank, wouldn't you?" she pointed out, smiling a little.

A nod and he smiled. "Yes, but I didn't become this rank until... last year, I think? I've been a knight for five years by now."

She nodded. "That's a fine achievement. A belated congratulation is in order, I think." she grinned and took a bite of her pie.

He laughed softly. "Why thank you, milady."

"No problem." she chuckled and ate on.

He just smiled and ate his pie as well. At the corner of the eye he noticed one of the small kids falling and hitting her knee, and for some reason it made him stop for a moment, looking at the child, but then he quickly turned his head back and continued eating.

Eira, however, looked at the girl for a longer time, just making sure the knee wasn't badly hurt.

The girl soon stood on her feet again and continued playing with her siblings, while the mother was talking to Sally in low voices. Finn noticed and looked over there. "Will you excuse me for a moment?" he said to Eira before he stood up and walked over there.

"No need to, I'm coming with you." her curiosity was too great, so she simply followed him over there.

Finn shook his head, but didn't really care that Eira followed. He looked at his sister. "Sally, is everything okay?" he asked and looked at the woman, who were now looking away, clearly not comfortable with Finn being there in his uniform.
"Everything is fine Finn, I can handle this, okay?" Sally said and raised a brow of her brother.

... Eira just stood there quietly and watched.

Finn looked at his sister, then the woman and back at his sister. Finally Sally sighed and realized her brother weren't going to give up that easily. "It's no big deal Finn, she just asked me if she could come back and pay in a week, when she got money for her work." she said and saw how her brother raised an eyebrow before he turned to look at the woman.
For a moment it seemed as if he were about to throw her and the three children out, until one of the children - a young boy who were perhaps three or four years old, with beautiful green eyes and ruffled blonde hair - looked up at him. He then reached into his leather pouch and handed a handful of silver coins to the woman, before he without a word returned to Eira and his own table, ignoring the shocked look on his sister's face.

Eira, however, smiled. "... You've been listening." she noticed, with a soft, warm smile at him - she hadn't smiled at him like that before now. It was the same kind, warm smile she used when she did something for others, herself.

"Don't mention this to anyone. It could ruin my reputation... but, that boy... he wasn't even a kid yet, I... I felt a bit sorry for him." he mumbled and tried to shrug it of as nothing, a one-time thing that wouldn't happen again.

However, she just smiled - and, in gratitude, she even leant over to place just the smallest kiss on his cheek.

He just raised an eyebrow, but chose to leave the subject at that, not wanting to talk any more of it - he was well aware that his sister would mention this and start asking questions the next time she caught him alone.

Blushing a little, but still smiling, she ate the rest of her pie.

He too ate the rest of his pie in peace and quiet. The children and the mother had now gone quiet and were obviously enjoying a good meal, something they probably hadn't gotten in a while.

And Eira seemed happier than before as she watched the small family.

Finn looked up at Eira, a small smile on his lips, then he coughed slightly, going back into his more professional mood. "Now, milady, where do you want to go next?" he asked.

"Well... I would like to get myself a new dress. Me and mum are dining with the royal family next week."

"Of course milady, and where do you want to buy this dress?" he asked, standing up and walking back outside - of course he held the door open for her, and as he did that he took one last glance on the happy family.
Oliver barked loudly as soon as he saw them come back outside. He had been surrounded by a group of street kids, who all seemed impressed by his massive size.

"Well, anywhere that can sell me a dress that's impressive enough for such a dinner." she chuckled.

"I'm afraid I'm no specialist on that area milady." he laughed softly.

"... Perhaps you could pop your head inside and ask your sister for me, then?" bashing of eyelashes his way.

"Of course, milady." a smile and he went back inside to ask his sister.

And she just stood outside, waiting, with a bright smile.

A few minutes went by and then he returned to her. "There is one place, a few streets away from here." he told her and pointed the way.

"Great!"she smiled and began walking.

He shook his head and followed her, guiding the way as his sister had described it for him.

She happily followed, and once they reached the store, not two seconds went by before she was inside it.

He chose to wait outside. The whole dress-shopping-thing wasn't really him, and besides, there were no need for him to be inside the shop, there were only one door, so she would be safe enough with him outside, keeping an eye on things with Oliver by his side.

About fifteen minutes later, she appeared in the door, dressed in a light blue dress ((se 'fint tøj' i profilen)), and made a small twirl. "It's nice, isn't it?" she asked him.
